The Special Educational Needs Panel has been constituted to explore the role of AI in supporting students with additional learning needs.This panel consists of SEND specialists, and educators, who aim to harness the potential of AI to create more inclusive learning environments. The panel focuses on identifying AI tools that enhance accessibility, personalised learning, and tailored support for students with special educational needs.

Objectives

The SEND Panel’s primary objective is to evaluate and recommend AI-driven solutions that support students with diverse learning needs. The panel will scrutinise AI technologies that aid in personalised learning, speech recognition, assistive technology, and adaptive learning systems. It will also ensure that these tools align with legal and ethical frameworks, safeguarding student well-being and promoting inclusive education practices.

Scope

The SEND Panel’s scope extends to the evaluation and recommendation of AI technologies that specifically benefit students with additional needs. The panel will review the effectiveness of AI in improving learning outcomes for SEND students and provide insights into best practices for implementing AI-driven support in classrooms. However, the direct application of these AI tools in schools falls under the responsibility of the Practitioners Panel,with the SEND Panel acting in an advisory capacity.
