Strategy

To spearhead this initiative, the Strategy Panel was constituted as the strategic decision-making body to steer the initiative and ensure the beneficial implementation of AI in the education sector.

The Panel recognises that AI has the potential to dramatically improve the education landscape, but it also acknowledges the risks and challenges associated with it. The role of the Strategy Panel is to set the strategic direction that will optimise the realisation of the potential benefits and the mitigation of these risks.

Objectives

The Strategy Panel is charged with the responsibility of defining the overall purpose, strategy, and ethos of BEP. Its aim is to provide strategic leadership to the initiative, align its activities with the mission, and offer guidance on the work of the Practitioners Panel.

The Strategy Panel, in consultation with the Practitioners Panel will prioritise AI approaches that reduce workload, streamline approaches that support adaptive teaching and are to the benefit of the most vulnerable in education – including those with the least means, additional learning needs, and those from diverse backgrounds.

Scope

The Strategy Panel’s purview extends to strategic oversight and guidance. The panel will be guided by the Expert Panel and Political Advisers Panel to interpret global trends, forecast future developments, and guide the direction of BEP’s work in terms of its original mission and objectives. While the Panel is responsible for strategic oversight, it is not directly involved in the operational and tactical actions of the other panels under the Terms of Reference.
