AI in Education held its first SEND Hackathon towards the end of the summer term at NESCOT's Institute of Technology (IoT). This event provided the opportunity for SEND leaders in schools and colleges to engage in interactive sessions exploring how AI can support the work of SENCOs, Inclusion staff and students with SEND. The programme for the day included AI exploration, workshops tailored for SEND professionals and collaborative feedback sessions which all fed into the production of the report and guidance.

Following an introduction to the potential of AI in the educational sector and practical guidance on how to use the selected various AI platforms, three bespoke workshops provided SENCOs with the opportunity use AI to find solutions to overcome challenges faced by SEND staff and students.

Workshop 1: Discover how AI can streamline and support your role as a SENCO.

Workshop 2: Explore AI applications that empower teaching assistants in their daily tasks.

Workshop 3: Learn innovative ways AI can enhance learning experiences for students with SEND.

Following each workshop SENCOs had time to collectively reflect on resources generated and share advice and further ideas.
