"Empowering Education: AI in Education to collaborate with The Open University to support schools and colleges in using AI to benefit all students, especially the most vulnerable"

The Open University (OU) now aims to work with AI in Education to support schools and colleges regarding the impact and use of AI.   

  

The AI in Education group brings an extensive, representative community of schools, and colleges, as well as a network of experts from business, politics and technical leaders in the field.  

  

The OU brings expertise around EdTech, educational content production and curation expertise, and support for professional capacity building.  The OU has also been awarded the education sector ‘AIFairness Innovation Challenge’ project. It is also involved in UKRI funded project on applying GenAI to education, and is a partner on the EU funded project ‘Opportunities And Challenges Of Chat GPT As A Tool/technology For Teaching And Learning’. 

   

Our shared aim is to ensure that fast-moving developments in AI and related technologies are to the benefit of all students at school and college, and especially, the most vulnerable, excluded or disadvantaged.  

  

We both agree that a key next step is to provide access to high quality, trusted sources of advice, support, and inspiring examples of best practice.  Our joint activities could include:  

  

·        Learning content curation /creation  

·        Joint lobbying   

·        National Conference events for the sector  

·        Training/Capacity building   

·        Consultancy   

·        Stakeholder engagement  

·        Educational AI product reviews  

·        Bringing key stakeholders together to facilitate AI experiments in schools
